There are many types of industrial furniture that can make great additions to any workspace or lab. A full range of industrial fixtures and appliances are beneficial in creating an efficient and well-equipped environment. Staff members will love having a variety of commercial furniture in their labs.
General Fittings
There are some pieces of industrial furniture that are needed in almost any lab or workspace. A common item is the sink, used for experimentation or hand washing. They will need to be installed with fittings to ensure safe draining of chemicals, and will need hot and cold water outlets. Different labs will need different designs of sinks. Stainless steel, cast epoxy, or ceramic are popular materials for lab sinks.
Optimal lighting is also important for a comfortable working environment. Additional task lighting may be needed depending on the type of work being done. Power outlets should be available throughout the space, as well as some type of storage.
Some labs will require more specific commercial furniture depending on what type of work is being done. These features can still be unique and fitting for whatever type of environment they are needed for.
Gas Proving Systems
If the workspace has a gas supply present, a proving system will be necessary. They have to be installed as part of the works to be able to provide gas for things such as Bunsen burners or other special equipment. These systems are used to test the pressure of the pipework and fitting. If a drop in pressure is detected, the system will now allow for gas to pass through until the pressure in back to normal. A pressure drop can happen due to leaks in pipework or a gas tap that has been left open.
Fume Cupboards
Fume cupboards, or even safety cabinets, may be needed to protect the staff, as well as the production. A space may even need many different types of cabinets to ensure safety. Fume cupboards work best if integrated into the overall design of the workspace. They can be supplied and installed by a commercial furniture company easily.
Special Water and Gas Supplies
These will be needed only by certain labs. They can include a vacuum or compressed air, or other specialist gas and water supplies. A company should be able to fit them with the needed outlets or lab taps. These supplies can be connected or plumed by professional installers.
Emergency Shower or Eyewash Station
Emergency showers and eyewash stations are required if staff are working with hazardous materials. They can help protect staff members if an accident were to happen. A company can simply provide and install one.
Tables and Benches
Industrial tables and benches are needed in most labs to provide adequate space. They can come in many different materials, heights, and lengths, depending on what the room needs. They are typically thick and heavy duty, and offer a great amount of durability.
Racks and Shelving
Shelves or racks on the tables can help create extra space and storage for materials. They usually come in a variety of colors or finishes to match the rest of the lab, and can come in different heights.
AV Equipment and White Boards
White boards and AV equipment are only needed in certain lab settings. These are best for labs where presentations or education will be taking place. They definitely are not necessary in a workspace, but are good for expressing ideas or thoughts.
There is a variety of industrial furniture to choose from when it comes to deciding on what will be needed for a particular lab space. Many companies can provide the items required, as well as the installation of them. Be sure to do some research when selecting what a lab will need.
