The Versatility of Ergonomic Seating – Useful in a Multitude of Work Environments!
When you really stop to think about it, the amount of jobs that people do while sitting down — and their critical importance to our society — is truly mind-boggling. When you also stop to consider how many people work at all of those jobs and about the amount of time that those people spend fidgeting in discomfort, you could easily find yourself awestruck. Think about not only all of the cumulatively lost productivity, but all of the all of the annoying and chronic pain, the general loss in life satisfaction, the totally avoidable misery, that flows from all that!
When you put things into that sort of perspective, it becomes clear that having a comfortable place to sit while working is no laughing matter.
Increasingly many workplaces across a growing diversity of industries are coming to understand that ergonomic seating is incredibly important to just about every aspect of work. Workplace seating is not something to be neglected or taken lightly.
That’s why RDM Industrial Products, with over four decades of deep experience making factory-direct lab furniture, is also in the business of crafting comfortable industrial chairs and seating. Along with our suppliers, we can deck out any kind of workplaces with the perfect chairs and stools.
But before you take the plunge on one of our seating chair solutions, we think it’s important that you learn a bit about the different types of ergonomic chairs and seating, what each type can offer you and your workers, and exactly the kinds of work environments they shine in.
Our Different Types of Ergonomic Seating
Let’s get started with a basic rundown of the various kinds of industrial seating solutions we can offer you. They fall into two broad categories: chairs and stools. Here’s what you can expect to find with each of them:
Ergonomic Chairs
Our quality-designed chairs can be subdivided into three broad categories: Standard, Pro-Duty and Technical.
Standard Chairs
The chairs in our Standard series are simple and somewhat stripped down, but offer exceptional comfort nonetheless. They’ve got black tube steel bases, foot rings, simple back rests and no arm rests. They are work best with high tables and workbenches that are at least 34 inches off the ground. The models here include the 1P, which is the simplest and most affordable of all; the 1P-K, which comes with ESD static control on the base and upholstery; and the 1P-CR, which is specially designed for cleanrooms.
Pro-Duty Chairs
Chairs in the Pro-Duty Series come with arm rests, optional foot rings, the option to get a slightly bigger back rest and greater height-adjustability that makes them compatible with a wider range of work surfaces, from 28 to over 34 inches high. Frames are made of aluminum. The 1Q, 1Q-K and 1Q-CR models are the standard, static-resistant and cleanroom models in the series, respectively.
Technical Chairs
Our Technical Series chairs are the best and most feature-rich. They have every feature that the chairs in the Pro-Duty Series have, but have significantly larger and more supportive back rests and bigger and more comfortable seat cushions. The three models in the series are the APP, the FPN and the FPP. The first of these has no arm rests while the FPN has a frame made of tube steel. The FPP combines arm rests with an aluminum frame and all of the other features mentioned.
Ergonomic Stools
Stools are the simplest kind of seating solution that we offer. Our ergonomic stools are not only height-adjustable, but they come with extremely comfortable cushions to support your needs. If you require more support, you have the choice to add in an optional foot rest. Frames are also customizable between aluminum and tube steel and come in a variety of styles and a few colors.
You can find a general list of all of our most popular kinds of industrial seating — as well as specific details about all of them.
More Details on Some Features
With that overview to whet your appetite, you may be ready to dive a bit deeper into the weeds and familiarize yourself with the finer details of all of the many features that our laboratory seating comes with. You even have the ability to customize your ergonomic seating further, to meet your desired specifications. To make the most of that ability, you need a strong idea of what these features are.
- Frames: Frames can be made of either tube steel or aluminum. The former is matte black while the later comes in a shiny chrome color. Both materials are exceptionally sturdy and can be outfitted with ESD or anti-staining properties to keep it clean and free from static.
- Upholstery: Chair and stool upholstery is made of smooth vinyl. It’s available in a wide range of different colors, like blue, yellow, grey, green, turquoise, purple and red. You can also outfit your upholstery with ESD to keep static electricity from messing with it.
- Leg Styles: The legs on your stool or chair can either be plain and fixed in place. You can opt to put wheels/castors on your chair to give you some mobility around the lab or office.
- Height-Adjustability: Your height-adjustable range will vary depending on which series or model you get. Most of our models can drop as low as 18 inches and go as high as 44 inches.
- Back Rests: Chairs can have three kinds of back rests. They include the standard one, which is the smallest. There is the Ergo backrest, which is slightly larger. Then there is the Technical Series back rest, which is only on Technical Series chairs and supports your entire back.
- Seat Cushions: Seat cushions are all soft, comfortable and meant to evenly distribute your weight so you don’t experience discomfort. Some models have thicker cushions than others, with the largest being in the Technical Series chairs.
- Arm Rests: All arm rests are not only height-adjustable to serve taller and shorter workers alike, but can also be either pushed forward or retracted horizontally.
- Foot Rings: A foot ring simply wraps around the frame and gives you place to rest your feet while you sit. They are especially good for shorter workers who need to work while sitting at high-rising desks or benches. These foot rests help keep workers’ feet from dangling uncomfortably. Foot rings are made of the same materials as frames.
